Introduction
Hey! I'm Rahul Goel, a backend-focused Software Engineer with hands-on production experience building high-throughput distributed systems. At Headout, I own backend development serving 20k+ RPM, lead asynchronous pipeline design with Kafka, and drove observability improvements that cut production latency by 94%. I thrive in fast-moving teams where reliability, scalability, and clean architecture matter.
Skills
Amazing! So, what are some of your notable skills that you think make you stand out?
Sure! My primary languages are Kotlin, Java, Golang, Python, and JavaScript. On the backend, I work extensively with Spring Boot, Kafka, Debezium, MariaDB, MongoDB, Redis, and REST APIs. For cloud and observability, I use AWS (S3, CloudWatch, CloudFront, Lambda, MSK), Prometheus, Grafana, and Datadog. I've built and operated production systems at scale, so reliability and clean architecture are always top of mind.
I'm continuously deepening my knowledge of distributed systems design, event-driven architectures, and cloud-native infrastructure. There's always more to learn when you're building at scale.
Projects
You bet I do!
This is only a fraction of all the stuff I did that I felt to be mature enough to have space here. Visit the portfolio page for a comprehensive list.
Education
I graduated from the National Institute of Technology, Delhi in May 2025 with a Bachelor of Technology in Electronics and Communication Engineering. CGPA: 8.18.
Before that, I completed my Class 12 (CBSE, Science) from Venkat International Public School, Bengaluru with 92.4%.

Work Experience
Yes! Here's my work experience.
Headout | Software Development Engineer April 2025 – Present
Own backend development in the Discovery pod serving 20k+ RPM after CDN caching using Kotlin and Spring Boot. Led design and deployment of an end-to-end asynchronous Reviews pipeline using Kafka with consumer-group-based autoscaling. Reworked observability across Grafana, Prometheus, and Datadog, cutting latency by 94% for a set of production endpoints and reduced alert false positives from 40–50/week to single digits.
CRED | Backend Developer Intern August 2024 – April 2025
Eliminated account aggregator delays for in-ecosystem transactions by building a direct event-driven ingestion layer for CRED Money using Java Spring Boot. Built backend support for a real-time transaction source that captured activity across the CRED ecosystem and fed it into the personal finance experience.
